District Administration Sets Procurement Prices to Ensure Fair Returns to Farmers

Malkangiri, April 27:  A district-level procurement committee meeting was held at the FLC Hall of the Collector’s Office in Malkangiri under the chairmanship of District Collector Prathamesh Arvind Rajshirk. The meeting focused on fixing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for moong (green gram), biri (black gram), and groundnut produced in the district during the 2025–26 Rabi season, along with detailed discussions on the crop procurement process.
The meeting was attended by Sub-Collector Duryodhan Bhoi, Chief District Agriculture Officer Anil Kumar Praharaj, Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies Theophil Shabar, Regional Manager of MARKFED Chandra Sethia, RMC Secretary Sanjay Kumar Das, MP representative Sanjay Sarkar, and all Block Agriculture Officers.
While chairing the meeting, the District Collector directed all departmental officers to work in coordination. He emphasized that no genuine farmer should be deprived of selling their produce and assured that all basic facilities—such as drinking water and rest sheds—would be made available at mandis.
He also instructed cooperative officials to maintain transparency in the registration process carried out through cooperative societies and to strictly prevent the involvement of middlemen. The Chief District Agriculture Officer was tasked with ensuring that farmers are informed about mandi dates and government-fixed prices through block-level officials, as well as overseeing quality checks of the crops.
Overall, the meeting placed strong emphasis on safeguarding farmers’ interests. The administration has completed all necessary preparations to ensure that farmers can conveniently sell their produce at the government-declared prices.
