Jharsuguda: July 31 UDN}:Jharsuguda District Collector Kunal Motiram Chavan visited various educational institutions and the Block Education Officer’s office in Kolabira Block and reviewed the academic environment, educational facilities, and infrastructure available at the schools. During his visit, the Collector also assessed the progress of ongoing developmental works and gave necessary instructions to the concerned officials for their timely completion.
The District Collector first visited K.G. Girls’ High School at Samasingha. During the visit, he inspected the site identified for the construction of a new kitchen for the mid-day meal programme as well as a designated dining area for students. He instructed the Block Development Officer (BDO) to ensure that all incomplete construction and developmental works at the school were completed without further delay. The Collector also directed the concerned authorities to prepare a detailed action plan for the construction of a multipurpose hall on the school premises so that students could benefit from better facilities for academic, cultural, and extracurricular activities.
The Collector further emphasised that government officials should regularly monitor developmental activities in the field and submit timely reports on the progress of various projects. He stressed the importance of ensuring that development works are not delayed and that the concerned officials remain actively involved in monitoring the implementation of projects at the grassroots level.
Following this, the District Collector visited the Kolabira Block Education Officer’s office, where he participated in a Ganesh idol installation ceremony organised on the premises. During his interaction with the employees and officials, he discussed several important issues related to the development and functioning of the office. He reviewed plans for the beautification of the office premises and took stock of the progress being made in identifying suitable land for the proposed ‘Godabarish Shiksha Sadan’.
The Collector also advised the education officials to formulate effective strategies to improve students’ academic performance and ensure that a greater number of students secure A Grade results in the Matriculation examination. He emphasised the need for systematic academic planning, continuous monitoring of students’ performance, and focused support for those who require additional assistance in their studies.
The District Collector subsequently reached N.L. Government Upper Primary School, where he participated in a Tithi Bhojan programme organised under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Yojana. Before having the mid-day meal, he recited the ‘Bhojan Mantra’ along with the students and participated in the meal programme.
During his visit to the school, the Collector also entered the classrooms and interacted with students and teachers. He reviewed the quality of mathematics teaching and assessed the academic progress of the students. He took note of the learning levels of the children and observed the teaching-learning process being followed in the classrooms.
The District Collector also considered the demands placed before him by the School Management Committee regarding the construction of essential facilities, including a toilet, bicycle stand, and multipurpose hall. He assured the school authorities that the demands would receive special attention and that necessary steps would be taken to improve the infrastructure and facilities available to students.
At the end of his visit, the Collector inspected Siriapali High School. During his interaction with the students of Class IX, he engaged them in a conversation in the Sanskrit language, encouraging the students and boosting their confidence and enthusiasm for learning. His interaction with the students created an encouraging academic atmosphere and motivated them to take a greater interest in their studies.
The Collector also visited the classrooms and reviewed the overall academic environment of the school. He provided necessary guidance to the teachers on improving the school’s performance in examinations and advised them to take appropriate measures to increase the overall success rate of students. He stressed the importance of focused academic preparation and regular evaluation to ensure better results in future examinations.
The visit was aimed at strengthening the quality of education, improving school infrastructure, monitoring developmental works, and ensuring that students receive better learning opportunities and essential facilities. The District Collector’s interaction with students, teachers, and education officials also highlighted the importance of regular field-level inspections and coordinated efforts to improve educational outcomes across the block.
During the inspection, Sub-Collector Sabyasachi Panda, Kolabira Block Education Officer Prakash Sahu, the Tahasildar, and other concerned officials were present. The officials accompanied the District Collector during his visits to the various institutions and participated in discussions regarding the improvement of educational infrastructure, academic performance, and implementation of ongoing developmental initiatives in Kolabira Block.
