Malkangiri, June 10: The Malkangiri district administration has taken a commendable initiative to further strengthen and expand the democratic process in the district. On the third day of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign, election-related services were delivered directly to the homes of senior citizens as a mark of respect and inclusion.
To ensure that elderly voters aged 85 and above can exercise their democratic rights without facing difficulties, the administration has been visiting them at their residences. The Additional District Election Officer of Malkangiri, along with Booth Level Officers (BLOs), visited various villages and met senior voters personally, providing them with special enumeration forms.
The primary objective of this campaign is to ensure that elderly citizens, who are unable to visit polling booths due to old age and health-related issues, can still participate in the electoral process with dignity and respect.
As part of the initiative, a special programme was organized in Atalguda village under Mathili block. Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer and the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Mathili, senior voters from Part No. 85 of the Chitrakonda Reserved Assembly Constituency were identified in Atalguda village.
During the programme, enumeration forms were respectfully distributed to voters above 85 years of age. The district administration’s noble effort has been highly appreciated by the local residents.
The campaign has demonstrated the administration’s commitment to ensuring that no eligible citizen is left out of the electoral process and that every voter gets an opportunity to exercise their franchise. Administrative officials also interacted with the elderly citizens, inquired about their health conditions, and discussed election-related procedures with them, creating enthusiasm among senior voters.
The Malkangiri district administration has appealed to all citizens to remain vigilant so that no eligible senior citizen or differently-abled voter in their locality is excluded from this Special Intensive Revision process.
If there is any voter in your family or neighborhood who is above 85 years of age or seriously ill, citizens are requested to immediately contact the local Booth Level Officer for registration and home voting facilities. Public cooperation will play a vital role in building a strong and transparent democracy.
