Cuttack, Sept. 18 (UDN): With preparations for Durga Puja gathering momentum, the Cuttack district administration has introduced a single-window facility to streamline the process of obtaining mandatory certificates and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for puja committees.
The facility has been set up at Barabati Palace and will remain operational for four days, from September 18 to 21. Puja organisers can approach the centre to submit applications and complete the required formalities for various permissions at a single location.
11 Departments Part of Single-Window System
Officials from 11 departments and agencies will coordinate the issuance of NOCs through the facility. These include the Roads and Buildings Department, Fire Services, Electricity Department, Tehsil administration, Cuttack Municipal Corporation and Commissionerate Police, among others.
The Sadar Sub-Collector has been appointed as the nodal officer for the single-window mechanism, while the Additional District Magistrate will supervise the overall process.
ADM (General) Kamaljeet Das said the initiative has been introduced to make the approval process more convenient for puja committees and facilitate the smooth conduct of Durga Puja celebrations across the city.
According to the administration, committees can submit applications and supporting documents during the first phase from September 18 to 21. The applications will subsequently undergo scrutiny and verification before the required certificates and NOCs are issued.
Puja Committees Welcome Move
Mahanagar Shanti Committee president Debendra Sahu welcomed the initiative, saying that bringing multiple departments together at one location would reduce the difficulties faced by puja organisers while seeking permissions.
However, Sahu suggested that the entire process should be shifted online from next year. He pointed out that some departments are still accepting applications through offline modes, and a digital system could make the process more convenient and efficient for organisers.
The single-window initiative is part of the district administration’s preparations to ensure coordinated arrangements and facilitate the peaceful and organised celebration of Durga Puja in Cuttack.
