Early Monsoon Arrival Expected This Year: IMD Forecasts Southwest Monsoon Reaching Kerala Around May 26, Raising Agricultural Expectations

New Delhi, May 17: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has made an important forecast. The southwest monsoon is likely to reach Kerala around May 26 or 27. This prediction is expected to bring major relief for the country and farmers.

According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon may set in over Kerala on May 26. The weather department issued this key forecast on Friday. This is nearly six days earlier than the normal onset date of June 1.

The meteorological department has stated that there is a margin of error of plus or minus four days in this forecast, meaning the monsoon may arrive in Kerala between May 22 and May 30.
The IMD has been using a special statistical model since 2005 to accurately predict the monsoon onset over Kerala. This report has been prepared by analyzing wind patterns over the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, as well as temperature conditions over northwest India.
