Environmental Conservation Takes Centre Stage as Nabarangpur Forest Division Marks the 77th Van Mahotsav with Mass Tree Plantation Drives

Umerkote, JJuly 14 [UDN}:  The 77th Van Mahotsav (Forest Festival) has been celebrated by the Nabarangpur Forest Division. Tree plantation has been identified as the most effective solution to combat rising global temperatures and increasing environmental pollution.

With the objective of protecting the environment, conserving forests, and creating a greener Nabarangpur, the Nabarangpur Forest Division has launched the week-long celebration of the 77th Van Mahotsav with extensive public awareness activities.

On this occasion, the Chief Guest, Nabarangpur MLA and Chairman of the District Planning Board, Gauri Shankar Majhi, along with Superintendent of Police Kashyap Parth Jagadish, Kendu Leaf Department Divisional Forest Officer Kiranala Samantaray, Divisional Forest Officer Udayan Subuddhi, Sub-Collector Prakash Chandra Mishra, senior forest officials, and students participated in the programme. The event commenced with the plantation of saplings by the dignitaries and participants.

According to the Forest Department, the primary objective of the programme is to create forests in different parts of the district and spread awareness among the people regarding environmental conservation and afforestation.

The programme was coordinated by Chandana Mallik and other officials. During the event, the Forest Division officials urged everyone not only to plant trees but also to take proper care of them until they grow into mature trees.

The Forest Department has set a target of planting several lakh saplings across the district during the current year as part of its afforestation drive and commitment to environmental sustainability.
