Rasulpur, July 31 UDN}:: A workshop on advanced agricultural practices was organised by the Gangotri Social Organisation at the conference hall of the Martya Baikuntha Temple, a prominent tourist and religious attraction located in the Nathuar Panchayat of Rasulpur Block in Jajpur district. The programme, titled “Advanced Agricultural Practices Demonstration Workshop-2026,” was conducted with the objective of creating greater awareness among farmers about modern farming techniques, crop diversification, and various government schemes designed to improve agricultural productivity and strengthen the livelihoods of farming communities.
During the programme, Bhotaka Sarpanch Smritirekha Rout was presented with the ‘Agriculture and Farmer Support Award’ in recognition of her contribution towards the welfare and development of farmers in the region.
The workshop brought together members of producer groups comprising farmers from 11 panchayats, including Nathuar, Badakainchi, Bhotaka, Gandhan, Jibara, Laxminagar, Pahanga, Otisho, Rasulpur, Tikarpada and Sribatpur. The initiative focused particularly on promoting crop diversification in lift-irrigation areas and encouraging farmers to adopt improved and modern agricultural practices that can help increase farm income and make agriculture more sustainable.
The programme was presided over by Soumyaranjan Mohanty, adviser to the organising institution. Former Jajpur District Chief Officer Shwetanjay Das attended the event as the chief guest. Other distinguished guests included Block Agriculture Officer Samapika Kar, Horticulture Officer Priyadarshini Behera, Jajpur District Agriculture Planning Officer Jyotiutkal Das, Block Assistant Agriculture Officer Udayanath Barik, Norei Block Assistant Horticulture Officer Ammanjyoti Sandh, and organisation secretary Rabinarayan Sahu, among others.
Speaking on the occasion, the guests highlighted the importance of adopting modern agricultural technologies and advanced farming methods for the overall development of farmers and the agricultural sector. They also appreciated the efforts undertaken by the Bhotaka Sarpanch towards improving the condition of farmers and promoting agricultural awareness in the area.
The speakers noted that several awareness camps and programmes have been organised through the initiative of the Bhotaka Sarpanch to educate farmers about modern agricultural practices, crop diversification and opportunities available under various government schemes. They further stated that she has played an important role in helping farmers access government assistance and benefits under different agricultural and welfare programmes.
In recognition of these sustained efforts and her proactive role in supporting farmers and facilitating their access to government schemes, the Gangotri Social Organisation honoured the Sarpanch with the ‘Agriculture and Farmer Support Award’.
The workshop served as an important platform for interaction between farmers, agricultural officials and representatives of the social organisation. Discussions focused on improving agricultural productivity, encouraging crop diversification, making better use of irrigation facilities, and ensuring that farmers are able to benefit from government support programmes.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Anusaya Rout, the organisation’s director. The organisers expressed hope that such workshops and awareness programmes would continue to encourage farmers in the region to adopt modern and scientific farming techniques and contribute to the economic development of rural communities.
