Flight Safety Comes First: Bhubaneswar Airport Issues Alert Over Height Violation

Bhubaneswar, Aug 4 (UDN): The Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) has issued a safety alert for pilots after a high-rise structure was found to exceed the permitted height limit along the airport’s flight approach path.

The airport authorities issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAMN), advising pilots to take necessary precautions and adjust flight paths while approaching the aerodrome to ensure safe aircraft operations.

The alert was issued after an assessment found that the structure located along the airport’s funnel area had crossed the approved height restrictions, which are designed to maintain clear and safe airspace for arriving and departing aircraft.

Airport officials are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with relevant authorities to address the issue and maintain aviation safety standards.

The height restrictions around airports are regulated to prevent obstacles from affecting aircraft movement, particularly during take-off and landing phases when flight paths are at lower altitudes.

BPIA authorities have assured that necessary safety measures are being implemented to ensure smooth flight operations while the matter is reviewed
