Khordha, July 30 (UDN): In view of the growing flood threat caused by heavy rainfall and rising water levels, the Khordha district administration has announced the closure of all schools across the district until July 31, 2026, as a precautionary step to ensure the safety of students.
The order applies to all government, government-aided, private schools, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas, and other educational institutions. Authorities said the decision was taken after reviewing the prevailing weather conditions and the possibility of flood-related challenges in several areas.
Schools have been instructed to ensure that students are provided meals early on July 30 and allowed to return home safely. Teachers and school staff have been directed to remain available and assist with emergency preparedness measures.
The district administration has also asked schools to keep their premises ready for possible use as temporary relief centres if required. Officials are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local agencies to respond quickly to any emerging challenges.
The administration has urged residents to remain alert and follow official advisories as Odisha continues to face flood risks due to heavy rainfall. Schools are expected to reopen from August 1, 2026, subject to further instructions from authorities.
