Forest Fire Monitoring Towers Strengthen Fire Detection and Management System in Satkosia

Bhubaneswar,  Sept 18 [UDN}:With financial assistance from the CAMPA Fund, forest fire monitoring towers have been constructed in the Satkosia Wildlife Division of Odisha to strengthen surveillance and fire-management measures.

The newly constructed towers will help forest officials detect forest fires at an early stage by providing a wider and clearer view of vulnerable forest areas. Early detection will enable the forest department and fire-response teams to take immediate control and preventive measures, thereby reducing the spread and potential damage caused by wildfires.

The initiative is expected to significantly strengthen the protection of forests, biodiversity and wildlife habitats in the Satkosia landscape. It will also improve the overall capacity of the forest administration to monitor fire-prone areas, respond quickly to fire incidents and minimise threats to the region’s rich ecological resources.

The deployment of such monitoring infrastructure through CAMPA support marks an important step towards modernising forest-fire management and enhancing conservation efforts in Satkosia.
