Former MLA Ramesh Patua Resigns from BJD, Likely to Join BJP Soon

Sambalpur, April 13::  In a major political development ahead of elections, former Rengali MLA Ramesh Patua has resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), delivering a significant setback to the party in Sambalpur politics. Ending a 27-year-long association, he has announced that he will formally join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the 12th.
Shift Towards BJP After Alleged Neglect
Mr. Patua submitted his resignation letter via email to BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik, expressing dissatisfaction over being ignored within the party. It is noteworthy that he was elected as an MLA from Rengali in 2014, but was denied a party ticket in both the 2019 and 2024 elections, which reportedly led to his discontent.
Key Reasons Behind His Decision
Long-term Neglect: Despite being a disciplined party member and inducting around 53,000 workers into the party, he alleged that he was not given due importance.
Inspired by Development Work: He stated that he was motivated by the developmental initiatives of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, which influenced his decision to join the BJP.
He is set to formally join the BJP during a joining ceremony at the party office in Sambalpur on the 12th.
Political observers believe that his exit from BJD could create challenges for the party in the Rengali constituency.
