Gandhi and Shastri Jayanti Celebrated Across Nabarangpur with Emphasis on Their Enduring Values

NabarangpurOct 5 [UDN}: The district-level celebration of the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri was held with grandeur at Nabarangpur headquarters under the joint auspices of the district administration and the District Information and Public Relations Department.

The programme began in the morning with the rendition of Ram Dhun, following which the guests paid floral tributes at the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri located in the town.

A public meeting was subsequently organised at the R.C.D. High School, where speakers highlighted the lives, ideals and contributions of the two national leaders. They emphasised that the values represented by Gandhi and Shastri—including truth, non-violence, simplicity, discipline, patriotism, public service and commitment to duty—continue to remain relevant to society and the younger generation.

The speakers urged young people to draw inspiration from the lives of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri and make integrity, discipline and a sense of responsibility an integral part of their lives. They also called upon the youth to actively contribute to the development of the country and society.

As part of the celebration, students who secured achievements in various competitions organised on the occasion were felicitated and presented with prizes.

Additional District Magistrate Biswajit Barman, Nabarangpur Municipality Chairperson Kunu Nayak, District Education Officer Chhatrapati Sahu, District Information and Public Relations Officer Prahlad Khosla, Sub-Divisional Information and Public Relations Officer Satyanarayan Pradhan, District Culture Officer Ghasia Harijan, Utkal Parishad president Bijay Choudhury and social worker Kishori Patnaik were among those present.

Officials from various departments, teachers, students and prominent local residents also attended the district-level observance.
