Girls’ Team from Nabarangpur Selected for Chief Minister’s Cup Football Tournament to Compete in Berhampur Zonal Round

Nabarangpur, June 4: The Odisha Football Association has announced the Nabarangpur girls’ team for the zonal-level Chief Minister’s Cup Football Tournament, which will be held at Berhampur.

Former Santosh Trophy player and senior sports personality Prashant Behera, along with Durjya Harijan, Firoz Hial, and Lalu Harijan, were entrusted with the responsibility of team selection. An eight-day selection camp was organized for this purpose.

It is noteworthy that district-level Chief Minister’s Cup football competitions had earlier been conducted. From there, a total of 40 players were shortlisted and divided into four teams for practice sessions and trial matches. Later, 22 players were selected in the final phase for participation in the zonal tournament.

Sports personalities Sapan Bairagi and Shashank Shekhar Behera also assisted in the selection process.

Wishing the team success, District Sports Association Secretary Prahallad Tripathy, Vice-President M. Balakrishna Rao, Joint Secretary Manoj Kumar Pattnaik, Sports Secretary Jitendra Choudhury, Indoor Secretary Krishna Pattnaik, Hockey Secretary Durga Mallik, Women’s Secretary Eng. Chandana Mallik, Cricket Secretary Ashok Nayak, and other association members conveyed their best wishes.

The 22-member girls’ team from Nabarangpur has now been officially announced. Sports enthusiasts in the district have expressed excitement over the team, which has been formed with talented local players.

The selected players are:
Manijula Gand, Khusi Poddar, Chandini Gand, Purnima Gand, Pushpa Gand, Anita Gand, Namita Gand, Putana Majhi, Pinki Gand, Parmeshwari Gand, Umeshri Gand, Naika Barsha, Kamini Gand, Tikili Sarkar, Khuleshwari Gand, Rajani Gand, Sarita Majhi, Rashmita Gand, Bharati Gand, and Antilata Khara, among others.
The district sports association conducted the team selection process.
