Government Moves Towards Digital Monitoring with Special App to Prevent Antibiotic Misuse

Bhubaneswar,Aug 29 [UDN}: The government has taken steps to curb the excessive and indiscriminate use of antibiotics and prescriptions. A special app is being developed for this purpose. Along with this, digital prescriptions are also set to be introduced.
Doctors’ prescriptions will be completely digitised, creating a digital record of which antibiotics are being prescribed to which patients. This is expected to help prevent the excessive use of antibiotics and improve healthcare services, Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling said.
The minister said technology is being used to make healthcare more transparent and accessible in line with the Central Government’s “One Nation, One Policy” approach.
The proposed app will encourage doctors to issue digital prescriptions. It will enable patients to maintain their medical information digitally and access their prescriptions easily whenever required.
Digital prescriptions will also make it easier to retrieve previous medical records. Having access to a patient’s past treatment and medication history will help doctors make better and more informed decisions about subsequent treatment.
