Guguda Forest Division Observes World Forest Day in Jharsuguda with Tree Plantation and Awareness Programs

Jharsuguda April 03:: Under the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department of the Government of Odisha, World Forest Day 2026 was celebrated today by the Jharsuguda Forest Division at the premises of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.
The program was organized with the objective of creating awareness about environmental protection and the importance of tree plantation. Many distinguished guests and environmental enthusiasts participated in the event.
On this occasion, Jharsuguda Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ashok Kumar Bhatt attended as the chief guest and emphasized that public participation is essential for the protection of forest resources.
Among the distinguished guests present were Chief Wildlife Warden Prahlad Nayak, District Environment Committee member Trinath Gauda, Naresh Nayak, Sachindra Patel, Benudhar Choudhury, and Govinda Sakunia. They highlighted the importance of maintaining ecological balance.
Jharsuguda Forest Division officer Vijay Kumar Pradhan and the Principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya were also present at the event.
For outstanding performance in tree plantation and forest development in the year 2026, Niktimal Gram Panchayat was awarded the “Best Panchayat,” while Babuchhipidi High School was recognized as the “Best Educational Institution.”
On this occasion, the Sarpanch of Niktimal Panchayat and the Headmaster of Babuchhipidi High School were honored with certificates and gifts by the chief guest.
