Nabarangpur, April 17:On the occasion of Maha Vishuba Sankranti, Hanuman Jayanti, and the Odia New Year, a massive procession was organized on Tuesday by the Hindu Ekta Bahini in Nabarangpur.
More than 30,000 people participated in the grand procession. Nabarangpur MLA and District Planning Board Chairman Gouri Shankar Majhi, along with a large number of citizens, took part in the event.
Organized under the supervision of convenor Gouri Shankar Sahu, the procession featured major attractions such as Aghori and Mahakali dances from Durg, tableaux from Raipur, and Dhol-Tasha performances from Maharashtra.
The entire city was decorated with thousands of saffron flags, and six decorative arches resembling temple structures were erected at various locations. Around 20 Sankirtan groups participated in the procession. A chariot of Lord Rama was also part of the procession.
Special rituals (Maha Aarti) were performed by Rajpurohit Narasingha Tripathy of Jagannath Temple and Maa Bhandar Gharani Temple. Children dressed as Lord Rama, Hanuman, and other deities added to the spiritual atmosphere.
On this occasion, liquor shops and non-vegetarian shops in the city remained closed. Tight traffic control arrangements were made, and a large number of women police personnel were deployed to ensure smooth conduct.
Several members including Ananta Panda, Nirbiva Babu Tripathy, Santosh Kumar, Babu Yadav, Dasarath Pattnaik, Lalatendu Lenka, and Muna Bishoyi actively contributed to the आयोजन.
Notably, for the past 12 years, Hindu Ekta Bahini has been organizing such grand events annually to promote unity among Sanatani Hindus. Various organizations also arranged pana distribution at different junctions across the city.
