Industrial Development Gains Momentum as Koraput Prepares to Transform into a Strategic Industrial Corridor with Modern Infrastructure and Enhanced Connectivity

Koraput, July 7 {UDN}:: Koraput district is set to emerge as a major industrial corridor in Odisha. A total of 10 industrial projects worth ₹12,677.9 crore have been proposed across the district, with an estimated 4,192 employment opportunities expected to be created. To support industrial growth, the district has been connected to the Bharatmala Economic Corridor, providing improved road infrastructure and logistics.

Among the proposed industries, construction is already underway for two projects, while one granite processing unit is expected to become operational by July.
Major Industrial Projects
At Ranikana in Semiliguda Block, Green Ply Sandila Pvt. Ltd. is establishing a plywood manufacturing plant with an investment of ₹606 crore. The foundation stone has already been laid by the Chief Minister. The project is expected to generate 1,300 jobs.
At KBD in Jeypore Block, a food processing unit worth ₹38.81 crore is under construction and is expected to create 20 jobs after commissioning.
At Kamara in Borigumma Block, an agro-processing unit is being established with an investment of ₹14.21 crore.
At Dumuriput in Koraput Block, a cement, lime, and plaster manufacturing unit worth ₹3.38 crore is proposed.
Century Ply is currently searching for land in Semiliguda Block to establish a plywood manufacturing unit with an investment of ₹870.82 crore, which is expected to create 1,000 jobs.
In Narayanpatna Block, the Chief Minister has approved a ₹9,000 crore hydroelectric power project, expected to generate 650 employment opportunities.
At Amphabali in Pottangi Block, a cement, lime, and plaster manufacturing unit will be established with an investment of ₹2,000 crore. The site has already been identified, and the project is expected to create 1,000 jobs.
At Podagada in Dasamantapur Block, an ancillary and downstream industrial unit worth ₹54.50 crore will be established, creating 100 jobs.
In Jeypore, an ancillary and downstream industrial project worth ₹88.16 crore has received approval from the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA).
At Bisinghpur in Borigumma Block, a granite cutting and polishing unit worth around ₹2 crore is scheduled to become operational in July.
Land Identified for Industrial Development
To facilitate the establishment of MSMEs and large industries, the district administration has identified 1,540 acres of land. All the proposed industrial projects will be located within 13 km of the Bharatmala highway, ensuring excellent connectivity and promoting faster industrial growth in the region.
The proposed industrial corridor is expected to significantly strengthen Koraput’s economy, attract fresh investments, and create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities while accelerating the district’s overall industrial development.
