International Recognition Beckons for Pipili’s Traditional Appliqué Art

Pipili , June 9:  Pipili is set to emerge as a global hub for its world-famous appliqué handicraft tradition.

A dedicated “Chandua Bazaar” will be developed in Pipili by the Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department.
The state-of-the-art five-storey market complex will be constructed with an investment of ₹80 crore.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi laid the foundation stone for the ambitious project today.
The new hub is expected to provide a major boost to Odisha’s traditional handicraft industry and create new opportunities for artisans.
Pipili’s iconic chandua artwork, known for its vibrant colours and intricate appliqué designs, has earned worldwide recognition over the years.
The upcoming modern marketplace will help promote local craftsmanship, attract tourists, and strengthen the livelihoods of skilled artisan
