Bhubaneswar, Aug 25 [UDN}:The annual uniform allowance provided to jail personnel and officers in Odisha has been increased, bringing relief and financial support to employees working in the state’s prison administration. Under the revised provision, eligible jail staff and officers will receive a higher annual clothing and uniform allowance to meet the expenses associated with purchasing and maintaining their prescribed uniforms.
The increase is expected to benefit a large number of personnel serving in various jails and correctional institutions across the state. The revised allowance has been introduced considering the requirements of employees who are required to wear official uniforms as part of their duties and responsibilities.
According to the decision, the enhancement in the annual uniform allowance will result in an additional expenditure of approximately ₹96.22 lakh per year for the state government. The increased financial provision is aimed at ensuring that jail personnel are adequately supported in meeting their official uniform-related expenses.
The move is also being viewed as an important step towards improving the welfare and working conditions of officers and employees engaged in prison administration and security services. With the revised allowance coming into effect, eligible personnel will now be able to receive enhanced financial assistance towards their annual clothing and uniform requirements.
