Jharsuguda: Oct 8 [UDN}:A special campaign is being launched in Jharsuguda district to facilitate the registration of voters whose names were excluded from the final electoral roll and eligible young citizens registering as voters for the first time.
The Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha, have directed that special registration drives be undertaken in states and Union Territories where the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process has been completed. In accordance with the directive, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in Jharsuguda district will conduct door-to-door awareness and registration activities.
BLOs to visit homes of excluded voters: BLOs will directly visit the residences of voters whose names were omitted from the final electoral roll during the SIR process due to reasons such as absence during the verification process, migration, death, or duplicate/fake voter identification. They will verify the relevant documents and assist eligible individuals in completing the necessary procedures for re-enrolment.
Registration of first-time young voters: The BLOs will also reach out to eligible young men and women in Jharsuguda district who are yet to register their names in the electoral roll. The required forms for first-time voter registration will be provided and completed with their assistance.
Eligible voters whose documents are required for verification have been urged to keep the necessary documents ready and cooperate with the BLOs during the campaign.
The district administration has appealed to all eligible citizens and young voters of Jharsuguda to participate in the special campaign and ensure that their names are registered in the electoral roll, thereby exercising their democratic right and participating in the electoral process.
