KosagumudaOct 8 [UDN}:: A legal awareness programme on the rights and welfare of migrant workers was organised at the conference hall of the Kosagumuda Block Office on Thursday, with the aim of educating migrant labourers about their legal rights, government benefits and avenues for accessing justice.
The programme was held under the chairpersonship of Sai Abhipsaa Gantayat, Chairperson of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA). District Additional Labour Officer Jagannath Bhumia, police officer Ms. Banki, SE Parshuram Chhataria, Kodiga JMFC, advocate Tulsiram Samarth and other officials attended the event as guests and spoke about various issues concerning migrant workers.
The speakers explained the legal rights available to migrant labourers and informed them about how they could obtain timely legal assistance and access justice without difficulty. They also advised migrant workers to obtain Labour Cards so that they could avail themselves of various welfare schemes and benefits available to registered workers.
As part of the programme, Labour Cards were distributed to 50 migrant workers, providing them an opportunity to access applicable government welfare and social-security benefits.
