Bhubaneswar, June 13: The People’s Government is giving priority to rural development by ensuring sustainable livelihoods for members of Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs). With support from the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department, a total of 18,296 SHGs, comprising 1,82,960 women, have benefited over the past two years.
Additionally, 18,679.28 hectares of Panchayat ponds have been leased out, creating a pathway to double fish production in the state. This initiative is expected to strengthen the rural economy and enhance income-generating opportunities for women involved in fisheries and allied activities.
