Bhubaneswar, Aug 11 [UDN}:The inaugural ceremony of a one-day workshop on the effective management of civil cases in district courts, organised at the Conference Hall of Lok Seva Bhavan. On the occasion, I delivered an address highlighting several important issues aimed at making the justice delivery system faster, more efficient, transparent and people-centric.
The programme was attended by Hon’ble Justice Shri Shashikant Mishra of the Orissa High Court, Hon’ble Advocate General Shri Pitambar Acharya, Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Shri Deo Ranjan Singh, Principal Secretary of the Law Department Dr. Pabitra Mohan Samal, along with senior departmental officials.
Upholding the rule of law and extending every possible support to the courts in the process of delivering justice is both our duty and responsibility. I emphasised the need to further strengthen, simplify, accelerate and improve the effectiveness of the judicial process through time-bound management of civil cases, effective litigation management, civil procedure, legal drafting, constitutional law, mediation and the optimum use of technology.
In our country, the government is the largest litigant. Therefore, the effective and time-bound management of government litigation is intrinsically linked with public interest, protection of government property and good governance. It is the responsibility of all of us to discharge our duties in every case with integrity, ethics, accountability and professional excellence.
Giving priority to the skill development and welfare of advocates, our government is firmly committed to establishing an ‘Advocate Academy’ and further strengthening the Advocate Welfare Fund. At the same time, I will make every possible effort to ensure the safety, welfare and dignity of the legal fraternity.
Our ultimate objective is to build a strong, transparent, accountable and people-centric justice delivery system that ensures timely and effective access to justice for all.
