Bhubaneswar, July 30 (UDN): The rising water level of the Mahanadi River has prompted Odisha authorities to step up preparedness measures, with increased monitoring of vulnerable areas and alerts issued for communities living in low-lying regions.
The river’s water flow at Mundali is expected to reach around 9 lakh cusecs by this evening, raising concerns over possible flooding in parts of Cuttack and Puri districts. Officials are closely tracking the situation and assessing the impact on areas located near the riverbanks.
Local administrations have been instructed to remain prepared for emergencies, including the possible evacuation of residents from vulnerable locations. Relief teams and response agencies are on standby to provide assistance and ensure the safety of people if conditions worsen.
Residents in flood-prone areas have been advised to remain alert, avoid unnecessary movement near water bodies, and follow safety guidelines issued by authorities. The administration continues to monitor rainfall, river flow, and ground conditions to take timely action.
