Bhubaneswar, June 8 (UDN): In a significant step towards strengthening sports infrastructure across Odisha, the state government has announced the development of a world-class multipurpose sports complex at Gothapatna in Bhubaneswar along with the construction of modern stadiums in all 314 blocks of the state.
The proposed sports complex at Gothapatna will be developed over nearly 150 acres with an estimated investment of around ₹1,000 crore. Envisioned as a premier sports hub, the facility will provide advanced training infrastructure, host national and international sporting events, and promote grassroots talent development.
In addition, the state government has launched an ambitious ₹4,000-crore initiative to establish multipurpose stadiums in every block. The project aims to ensure access to quality sports facilities at the grassroots level, encouraging youth participation and nurturing sporting talent across rural and urban Odisha.
The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to transforming Odisha into a leading sports destination in India. Officials said the projects will not only strengthen sports development but also create employment opportunities and contribute to regional economic growth.
With sustained investments in infrastructure, training, and talent identification, Odisha continues to reinforce its position as one of the country’s foremost promoters of sports and youth development.
