Major Relief for Farmers as Agriculture Machinery Scheme Gets Five-Year Extension, Set to Benefit Approximately 3.8 Lakh Cultivators

Bhubaneswar,  Aug 4 [UDN}:  The Odisha Government has decided to extend the Agricultural Machinery Scheme for another five years, aiming to provide greater support to farmers through increased access to modern farming equipment and technology. The extension of the scheme is expected to benefit nearly 3.8 lakh farmers across the state, helping them improve agricultural productivity, reduce manual labour, and adopt more efficient farming practices.

Under the scheme, farmers will continue to receive assistance and incentives for purchasing various agricultural machinery and equipment, including tractors, power tillers, harvesters, and other modern tools used in farming activities. The initiative is designed to promote mechanisation in agriculture, especially among small and marginal farmers who often face challenges in accessing costly equipment.

The government believes that expanding the reach of agricultural machinery will help farmers complete farming operations on time, reduce production costs, and increase crop yields. The scheme will also encourage the use of advanced technology in agriculture and strengthen the overall rural economy of Odisha.

With the five-year extension, thousands of farmers are expected to benefit from improved facilities, making agriculture more sustainable, productive, and profitable in the state. The move is being seen as a major step towards empowering farmers and supporting the modernisation of Odisha’s agricultural sector.
