Malkangiri Observes District-Level World Red Cross Day Through Awareness Programmes and Humanitarian Activities

Malkangiri, May 11: The district-level World Red Cross Day was celebrated at the auditorium of Malkangiri College under the chairmanship of Dr. Chittaranjan Barik.
The programme was attended by Additional District Magistrate and President of the College Management Committee, Somnath Pradhan, as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he advised the volunteers to serve the nation by drawing inspiration from the ideals of Henry Dunant.
At the beginning of the programme, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of the founder of the Red Cross, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the guests.
Deputy Collector Dipti Ranjan Sahu attended as the keynote speaker and encouraged students to become lifelong members of the Red Cross.
Former District Chief Red Cross Convener and Secretary Dr. Ranjan Kumar Swain attended as a distinguished guest and highlighted the significance of the day.
The programme was coordinated by District Youth Red Cross Convener and Secretary Bishweshwar Pidishika, who also introduced the guests and conducted the stage proceedings.
All faculty members of Malkangiri College and Youth Red Cross volunteers including Shubhalaxmi Sahu, Suneli Maharana, Ambika Khara, Sanatan Kabasi, Suraj Mallik, Ipsita Das, and G. Saraswati actively participated and helped organise the event in a grand manner.
The programme also included an oath-taking ceremony. The guests were felicitated with bouquets and traditional shawls. More than one hundred people attended the event. At the end, Mr. Pidishika delivered the vote of thanks.
