Nuapada, Oct. 5 (UDN): Movement of a herd of three tuskers near several villages in Odisha’s Nuapada district has triggered concern among residents, prompting the Forest Department to intensify surveillance and issue safety advisories.

The elephants were spotted around Bartansil, Mahul Pada and Jam villages in the Boden area under the Sinapali Forest Range on Sunday.
Herd Moves Through Farmlands
According to reports, the three elephants had entered the area after moving from neighbouring Bolangir district on Friday. Their presence in agricultural fields and farmlands has kept residents on alert.
The herd had also reportedly damaged trees at a Government Upper Primary School in Gharadhara village under Khariar block on Friday night.
The movement has raised concerns among villagers, particularly those living close to forest and agricultural areas frequented by the elephants.
Forest Team Keeps Close Watch
Following information about the herd’s movement, Forest Department personnel began tracking the elephants to prevent any confrontation with people and to monitor their route.
Officials have also been conducting awareness activities in the affected villages, urging residents not to approach or provoke the animals.
Residents Advised to Stay Alert
People living in and around the affected areas have been advised to maintain a safe distance from the elephants and exercise caution while venturing into farmlands or nearby forest areas.
Forest officials are continuing to monitor the herd’s movements, with efforts focused on preventing any untoward incident while ensuring the safety of both villagers and the animals.
