Memorandum Submitted to Sub-Collector as Residents Renew Demand for Setting Up Godabarisha Adarsha Vidyalaya at Salapa and Preserving the Previous Government Decision

Baipariguda Aug 3 [UDN}:: The demand for the establishment of a Godabarisha Adarsha Vidyalaya at Salapa, under Badajiuna Gram Panchayat in Jeypore Block, has gained significant momentum. Raising their collective voice, the Sarpanch, Samiti Member, Ward Members, along with social workers, intellectuals, parents, students, and women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) representing Dharna Handi, Padeikera, Gaudaguda, and Salapa villages, submitted a detailed memorandum to Jeypore Sub-Collector Yadumani Nayak on Monday.
According to the memorandum, the Odisha Government had earlier identified land in Salapa village for the establishment of the Godabarisha Adarsha Vidyalaya. After receiving approval from the Chief Minister for the construction of the school, the process of finalizing the site at Salapa had also been completed. Therefore, the villagers have urged the administration to implement the earlier government decision without any changes.
The memorandum further states that the existing school at Salapa currently has more than 450 students. Since Salapa is centrally located, students from nearby villages including Dharna Handi, Padeikera, Gaudaguda, and other surrounding habitations would benefit greatly if the proposed school is established there. Keeping this in view, residents of these four villages, along with members of Self-Help Groups, had previously written to the Chief Minister requesting that the school be established at Salapa.
The petitioners also alleged that a few vested-interest groups, driven by political motives, had recently submitted a proposal before the Sub-Collector seeking to shift the proposed Godabarisha Adarsha Vidyalaya to Badajiuna village. They argued that implementing such a proposal would create division, dissatisfaction, and unnecessary disruption in the region’s educational environment.
The villagers appealed to the district administration to retain the originally identified site at Salapa and establish the school there as planned. They emphasized that this would not only promote educational development across the region but also provide talented students from rural areas with access to quality education.
The memorandum concludes with a strong warning that if the school is shifted from Salapa to Badajiuna, the residents of Salapa and the four surrounding villages would be compelled to stage an indefinite mass protest in front of the Sub-Collector’s office until their demand is fulfilled.
