Nowrangpur, March, 5: In Raighar block of Nowrangpur district, children will receive primary education at Anganwadi centers in the local Gondi language. In this context, a one-day district-level workshop under the initiative “We Will Learn in Our Language” was held on Monday at the Panchayat Samiti Hall in Umarkot. The workshop was organized by the District Administration and the District Social Welfare Department, with dignitaries inaugurating the program.
The workshop was inaugurated by District Collector Dr. Maheswar Rao. Other officials present included Sub-Collector Prakash Kumar Mishra, District Social Welfare Officer Draupadi Kahor, DIET President Onkar Pattnayak, DIPR Officer Manoj Behera, Video Officer Manoj Meher, and Piramal Foundation official Bikram Rana.
The workshop aims to train Anganwadi workers to implement the new early education curriculum “Nua Arunima”. Children will engage in learning through storytelling, songs, games, and interactive dialogues in their mother tongue, ensuring education is delivered in a socially and culturally relevant environment.
As part of the pilot initiative, 3 to 6-year-old children in 30 Anganwadi centers of Raighar block will receive mother-tongue-based early education in the local Gondi language.
According to officials, the State Government’s Women and Child Development Department is implementing the “We Will Learn in Our Language” program across six tribal districts –
Malkangiri, Nowrangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, and Keonjhar – in 180 Anganwadi centers.
During the meeting, Anganwadi workers, multilingual teachers, Raighar Sarpanch, parents, BEO Vikas Chandra Sarkar, Raighar ABEO, and reporters were also present.
