New Delhi, July 14: India’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector continues to strengthen its role in the economy, with nearly 9 crore businesses registered on the Udyam and Udyam Assist portals, creating around 38 crore employment opportunities.
The growing number of registrations reflects the increasing formalisation of small businesses and their expanding contribution to employment, manufacturing, and entrepreneurship across the country.
Officials said easier registration, improved access to government support schemes, and better credit facilities have encouraged more enterprises to join the formal economy.
The MSME sector remains a key pillar of India’s economic growth, supporting millions of livelihoods while driving innovation, exports, and inclusive development.
The government expects the sector to play an even greater role in generating jobs and boosting economic activity through continued policy support and digital initiatives.
