Bhubaneswar, July 14 (UDN): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised fishermen along the Odisha coast not to venture into the sea till July 18 due to the likelihood of rough to very rough sea conditions over the next five days.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, squally winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are expected to prevail along and off the Odisha coast from July 14 to July 18, making the sea unsafe for fishing activities.
The IMD has also urged fishermen who are already at sea to return to the shore at the earliest and advised coastal residents to remain alert as weather conditions may deteriorate.
The advisory has been shared with the administrations of all coastal districts, which have been asked to take necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safety of fishermen and coastal communities.
Authorities have appealed to the public to follow official weather updates and avoid venturing into the sea until conditions improve.
