Nabarangpur Faces Unrelenting Heavy Rain, Several Areas Affected as Rivers and Water Bodies Witness Rising Levels

Nabarangpur, Aug 28 [UDN}:Continuous rainfall for the past two days has caused severe waterlogging across Nabarangpur district, affecting both rural and urban areas.
In several low-lying areas of Nabarangpur town, rainwater has entered houses, while nearly two feet of water is flowing over the main roads. At Bangiri Bridge in Nandahandi block, around three feet of water is flowing over the bridge, disrupting connectivity to three panchayats.
In Indravati Colony of Tentulikhunti, rainwater has entered several houses, reportedly damaging household belongings. Residents have complained that poor drainage facilities are preventing proper water discharge.
Similarly, several localities and the bus stand area in Papadahandi have been inundated, with water entering houses and shops. Water is also flowing over the temporary bridge at Jatabal, disrupting communication with Umerkote, Raighar, Jharigam and Chandahandi.
If the rain continues, the situation is likely to worsen further. Residents have urged the authorities to immediately drain the accumulated water from affected areas and ensure drinking water supply and other necessary assistance.
