Nabarangpur Hosts Grand Opening Ceremony of Amrit Kaal Cultural Festival

Nabarangpur, June 1:A two-day “Amrit Kaal Cultural Festival” organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and hosted by the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), Kolkata, began on May 27 and will continue till May 28, 2026, at Sai Kalyan Mandap in Nabarangpur.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he said that the festival showcases the rich cultural heritage of Nabarangpur district and that the support extended to local artists has helped strengthen the district’s folk dances and folk music traditions.

Among the distinguished guests present were Municipality Chairperson Kunu Badya, social worker S. Nayak, District Information and Public Relations Officer Manoj Behera, District Child Welfare Officer Suresh Pattnaik, and District Culture Officer Ghasia Harijan.

The event is being organized under the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre as part of the “Amrit Kaal” vision launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister for building a developed India. Speakers stated that the programme has enhanced the dignity of Indian and Odia culture, dance, and music, while also providing a platform for artists from Nabarangpur district to showcase their talent.

They further noted that the district’s unique art forms, traditions, music, dance, and indigenous instruments would continue to enrich the spirit of “Amrit Kaal” through such cultural events. The programme is being conducted over two days with the cooperation of the district administration.
During the inaugural evening, several cultural groups performed traditional dances and musical presentations. Participating groups included:
Odissi music and dance troupe
District Cultural Association, Nabarangpur
Sonu Majhi Dhemsa Dance Group, Dabugaon
Yuva Sangathan, Nabarangpur
Shailodi Dance Group, Gopal Guda, Jharigram
Rinayodi Dance Group, Tentulikhunti
The performances highlighted the region’s rich traditional heritage.
The Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre is also providing financial assistance to the participating artist groups. The Nabarangpur administration has extended support to EZCC’s efforts to encourage local artists.
On this occasion, several gurus and senior cultural personalities were felicitated. The programme was anchored by G.V.V. Ranjit on behalf of the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, while Bibhu Prasad Mishra coordinated the event.
