Malkangiri, Sept 29 [UDN}:: Residents of Balimela in Malkangiri district are set to get a new recreational facility, with the proposed ‘Hill Dongari Park’ likely to be developed soon in an area opposite the Orkel police station.
The initiative has been taken following efforts by Chitrakonda MLA Mangu Khila, with preliminary administrative work for the proposed park already underway. The project is expected to provide a new public recreational space for residents and visitors to Balimela.
According to reports, MLA Khila had earlier submitted a proposal to Malkangiri Collector Prathamesh Arvind Rajeshirke seeking the development of a new park in Balimela. He had also requested steps to arrange funding for the project through the ONPC CSR fund.
Welcoming the proposal, the district administration has initiated further action and sent a district-level team to Balimela to inspect and assess the proposed site. The team conducted a field study to examine the location and assess the requirements for developing the park.
The survey team included Assistant Engineers Karna Buruda and Padmanabha Bheti, Architect Debajit De, Infrastructure Experts Vivekananda Sahu and Pankaj Panigrahi, Consultant Engineer Madanmohan Chalan, and the MLA’s local representative Isak Khosla, among others.
Following the site inspection, preparations are expected to begin for a Detailed Project Report (DPR). The DPR will outline the proposed design, infrastructure requirements, estimated cost and other aspects necessary for taking the Hill Dongari Park project forward.
The proposed park is expected to add to the recreational infrastructure of Balimela and provide residents with a dedicated space for leisure and outdoor activities.
