New Rovers and Rangers Units Inaugurated at Vikram Dev University, Strengthening Students’ Participation in Community Service and Social Responsibility

Jeypore, Sept 15 [UDN}:: A new chapter in student development and community service began at Vikram Dev University in Jeypore with the formal launch of the Rovers and Rangers Units for students in the 16–25 age group.

The initiative is aimed at developing discipline, self-reliance, leadership qualities, a spirit of service and a sense of responsibility among university students. During the inaugural programme, students were encouraged to perform their duties sincerely, become self-dependent, respect elders, work in the larger interest of the nation and come forward to serve society.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Hrushikesh Senapati, who attended the programme as the chief guest, urged students to always follow the path of truth and develop a love and concern for nature. He stressed the importance of making themselves capable and responsible citizens and advised them to focus on becoming good human beings along with pursuing academic excellence.

University Registrar Maheswar Nayak spoke about the need for proper preparation for the future. He highlighted the importance of planning and taking timely initiatives so that young people can contribute meaningfully to society and the country in the years ahead.

Controller of Examinations and Chairman of the PG Council, Dr Prashant Patra, advised students to give importance not only to their studies but also to extracurricular and social activities. He said participation in such activities helps students develop confidence, leadership skills and a broader outlook.

Niranjan Panigrahi, District Organising Commissioner (Scout), Koraput, attended as the chief speaker. He spoke about the role and responsibilities of students in contemporary society and encouraged them not to lose sight of their goals. He emphasised the importance of becoming self-reliant and explained how the Rovers and Rangers movement can help young people develop discipline, leadership, teamwork and a strong spirit of service.

He also appealed to students to actively join the newly launched units and make use of the opportunities provided through the programme to develop their personalities while contributing to the community.

The event was conducted by Dr Bijay Kumar Sethi, Lecturer in English and Unit Leader. Santosini Nayak, Lecturer in Mathematics and Unit Leader, proposed the vote of thanks.

The launch of the Rovers and Rangers Units is expected to provide students of Vikram Dev University with opportunities to participate in community service, leadership activities, environmental initiatives and other programmes aimed at developing responsible and socially conscious young citizens.
