Bhubaneswar, July 7 (UDN): Odisha is currently not facing any flood situation despite continuous rainfall in the upstream catchment areas, the Water Resources Department said on Tuesday.
The water level at the Hirakud reservoir has risen to 606.12 feet following heavy rainfall in the upper catchment regions. However, officials stated that the present water level remains two to three feet lower than the level recorded during the corresponding period in the previous comparable year.
The Chief Engineer of the Water Resources Department said the situation is being closely monitored, with officials keeping a constant watch on rainfall patterns, river flows, and reservoir levels across the state.
Authorities are assessing the inflow into major reservoirs and taking necessary steps for effective water management. Despite the rise in water levels, officials maintained that there is no immediate flood threat in Odisha.
The department has assured that all precautionary measures are in place and further action will be taken based on the evolving weather and water conditions.
