Odisha Boosts Connectivity with New Highway, Bridge Projects

Bhubaneswar, June 23 (UDN): Odisha on June 20 marked a significant infrastructure milestone with the inauguration of nine road and bridge projects worth ₹811.86 crore, along with the foundation laying of three new projects valued at ₹379.84 crore, aimed at strengthening connectivity and accelerating regional development.

The event, held at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district, was attended by President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

The inaugurated projects include four National Highway works worth ₹536.88 crore, comprising the Nayagarh Bypass (NH-57), Rigdol–Belgaon Section (NH-59), Reamal Bypass (NH-53), and Kotpad Bypass (NH-63). In addition, five Roads and Buildings projects worth ₹274.98 crore were completed, covering key stretches such as the Taladanda Canal Right Embankment Road in Cuttack, Ichhapur–Basudevpur Road in Bhadrak, Dhenkanal–Kaimati–Joranda Road in Dhenkanal, Bijepur–Dublabahal Road in Bargarh, and Deobandha–Chandahandi via Fatki Road in Nabarangapur.

The foundation stones were laid for three major infrastructure projects, including the Kathajodi High-Level Bridge in Cuttack, the Dhalpur–Harabhanga Road in Boudh, and the widening of the Nuapada–Ghatipada section of NH-353.

Officials said the projects reflect a balanced approach to improving both national highway connectivity and rural road infrastructure. The initiatives are expected to reduce travel time, improve road safety, and strengthen economic activity across the state by enhancing access between key regions.

The government stated that these investments align with its broader vision of building modern infrastructure to support long-term, inclusive growth in Odisha.
