Bhubaneswar, Sept 1 [UDN}:An active low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and is expected to move across northern Odisha within the next 12 hours.
The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Balasore, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts by this morning. A Red Warning has been issued for these three districts, with district administrations advised to remain fully prepared to deal with any weather-related emergency.
An Orange Warning has also been issued for 10 districts, including Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Angul and Dhenkanal, indicating the possibility of intense rainfall and associated impacts.
Along with the rain, strong winds of 30–40 kmph are also likely in several areas. Authorities have been advised to closely monitor the situation and take necessary precautionary measures, particularly in vulnerable and flood-prone locations.
The weather system is likely to bring a spell of intense rainfall across northern Odisha, raising concerns over waterlogging, localized flooding, swollen rivers and disruption to normal life and transportation in affected areas.
