Bhubaneswar, July 22 (UDN): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reviewed preparations for the upcoming Bahuda Yatra and directed officials to ensure effective crowd management, seamless communication, and smooth coordination among all departments.
During the review meeting held at Lok Seva Bhawan, the Chief Minister urged devotees and visitors to follow the guidelines issued by the administration and police to ensure a safe and orderly experience during the grand festival.
The Chief Minister appreciated the dedication of servitors, officials, and staff involved in managing the rituals of the Rath Yatra despite challenging weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and humid conditions. He praised their teamwork and commitment towards ensuring the successful conduct of the religious ceremonies.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that all major rituals since the beginning of the Rath Yatra have been conducted smoothly. The district administration and police continue to remain alert in Puri, closely monitoring arrangements for pahandi, chariot pulling, Dakshina Moda, and other important rituals.
Emphasising the importance of technology-driven crowd management, the Chief Minister directed officials to use CCTV surveillance and the Integrated Command and Control system for real-time monitoring of crowd movement and immediate response in sensitive areas.
He also instructed authorities to ensure the smooth completion of upcoming events, including Bahuda Yatra, Suna Besha, and Niladri Bije, with special attention to security, crowd regulation, and public convenience.
Expressing grief over the loss of two devotees due to health-related issues during the Rath Yatra, the Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. An assistance of ₹10 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund has been announced for the families of the deceased devotees.
Senior officials, including representatives from the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration, police department, and state government departments, attended the meeting and shared updates on preparations for the upcoming celebrations.
The Odisha government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a safe, smooth, and spiritually fulfilling Bahuda Yatra experience for devotees from across the country.
