Bhubaneswar, July 7 (UDN): Odisha BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Manmohan Samal has said that names removed from the draft electoral roll can be restored before the final voter list is published, amid concerns over the deletion of more than 20 lakh names in the ongoing revision process.
Samal said the voter list revision is being carried out with the objective of ensuring accuracy and transparency. He added that the current exercise is based on the 2002 electoral roll and that eligible voters will have the opportunity to verify their details and file claims for inclusion.
He assured that the revision process provides a mechanism for genuine voters to address discrepancies and get their names reinstated before the final electoral roll is prepared.
Samal stressed the need for maintaining an updated and accurate voter database while ensuring that eligible citizens are not deprived of their voting rights.
The electoral roll revision process will continue with verification of claims and objections before the final list is released.
