Bhubaneswar, Sept 2 [UDN}:The Odisha Government has issued a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the ‘Auto-Appeal System’ to make the delivery of government services more accountable and time-bound.
Under the new system, if a government service is not provided within the prescribed time limit, the case will automatically be forwarded to the First Appellate Authority for necessary action. This is aimed at ensuring that citizens do not have to make repeated visits or file separate appeals when services are delayed.
Officials responsible for the delay may face a penalty of ₹250 per day, subject to a maximum of ₹5,000. The penalty amount can be recovered directly from the concerned official’s salary.
The new SOP is intended to strengthen accountability among government officials, ensure timely delivery of public services, and make the administration more responsive to citizens.
