Bhubaneswar, July 13 (UDN): Odisha has accelerated its efforts towards tuberculosis elimination through an extensive 100-Day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2.0, screening more than 5.18 lakh people and providing nutritional support to over 28,000 TB patients across the state.
The campaign, carried out across all 30 districts, focused on early identification of TB cases, preventive treatment, and improving patient care through community participation and coordinated healthcare efforts.
Under the initiative, thousands of screening camps were conducted in urban, rural, and hard-to-reach areas, helping expand access to diagnosis and awareness services. Health authorities also provided preventive treatment to household contacts of TB patients to reduce the risk of further transmission.
Nutritional assistance was strengthened through the distribution of 28,348 Poshan Kits under the Ni-kshay Mitra Initiative, supporting patients during their treatment and recovery process.
The campaign witnessed active participation from healthcare workers, government agencies, community organisations, volunteers, and local stakeholders, contributing to wider awareness and improved TB services.
Health officials stated that the initiative reflects Odisha’s continued commitment to eliminating tuberculosis through timely diagnosis, quality treatment, preventive care, and community-driven action.
The state government remains focused on sustaining these efforts and building stronger healthcare systems to support the national vision of a TB-free India.
