Bhubaneswar, November 3, 2025: Odisha has achieved a major milestone in its technology and industrial development journey with the groundbreaking ceremony of SiCSem Pvt. Ltd.’s ₹2,067 crore Silicon Carbide Semiconductor and ATMP facility at Info Valley, Bhubaneswar. The event marks a transformative step in the state’s pursuit of self-reliance and technological leadership in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing.

The foundation stone was laid by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, in the presence of senior government officials, industry leaders, and technology experts.

A New Era of Advanced Manufacturing

SiCSem Pvt. Ltd.’s upcoming facility will be India’s first end-to-end Silicon Carbide (SiC) semiconductor fabrication and ATMP (Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging) unit. The project will play a vital role in strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem while positioning Odisha as the Semiconductor Hub of Eastern India.

The ₹2,067 crore investment is expected to create around 5,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, providing a significant boost to the state’s high-technology manufacturing and skilled workforce development.

Driving Self-Reliance and Innovation

This project aligns with the Government of Odisha’s vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Odisha’ — a self-reliant, innovation-driven economy. It also complements the national semiconductor mission aimed at making India a global manufacturing destination for advanced electronic components.

By hosting this state-of-the-art facility, Odisha is set to attract further high-tech investments, foster R&D partnerships, and encourage local talent development in the fields of semiconductor design, precision engineering, and materials science.

Strategic Significance

Located in the Info Valley technology cluster near Bhubaneswar, the SiCSem facility will integrate cutting-edge research with manufacturing excellence. Its operations will cater to multiple sectors including renewable energy, electric mobility, power electronics, and defense applications — contributing directly to India’s sustainable industrial growth.
