Jharigaon, June 22 {UDN}: A preparatory review meeting was held on Monday at around 9:00 AM in the premises of the Lord Jagannath Temple at Bijapur village under Jharigaon Block of Nabarangpur district. The meeting aimed to ensure the smooth, well-organized, and successful conduct of this year’s sacred Rath Yatra festival.
The meeting was chaired by Chandra Pujari, President of the Rath Yatra Management Committee of the Shri Jagannath Temple. Detailed discussions were held on organizing the festival in a peaceful, disciplined, and devotional atmosphere with the active cooperation of all stakeholders.
Committee members deliberated on various preparatory measures, including the construction of the chariot, cleaning of the temple and surrounding areas, provision of drinking water, safety and security arrangements for devotees, maintenance of public order, distribution of prasad, and other essential arrangements. Participants also emphasized the need for proper allocation of responsibilities and collective efforts to ensure the successful celebration of the festival.
Among those present were Committee Secretary Achyut Majhi, Khagapati Majhi, Buduram Bhatra, Saradu Bhatra, Narendra Majhi, and chief guests Rainu Majhi, Sutam Majhi, Dambaru Nayak, Ravisingh Majhi, Harichandra Majhi, Ward Members Sanatan Majhi and Pitambar Bhatra, along with Raghunath Kumbhar, Nakul Kalar, Mansingh Bhatra, and many other respected citizens, intellectuals, social workers, and villagers.
At the conclusion of the meeting, all participants pledged to work together to make this year’s Rath Yatra successful, disciplined, and attractive. The meeting ended with a vote of thanks delivered by President Chandra Pujari.
The annual Rath Yatra is one of the most significant religious festivals in the region, drawing large numbers of devotees and fostering a spirit of unity, devotion, and community participation. This year’s preparations reflect the commitment of the local community to uphold the tradition with enthusiasm and devotion.
