Jeypore:, Sept 2 [UDN}: A Bio-CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) plant is set to be established near Palakaput under Balia Gram Panchayat in Jeypore Block of Koraput district. The proposed project is expected to involve an investment of around ₹70 crore and will produce gas by processing cow dung and household waste, providing an environmentally friendly method of waste management and renewable energy generation.
For the project, approximately 26.770 acres of Revenue Department land have been identified at Kumbharkhal Mouza, located between Palakaput and Nuaput. The identified land is expected to provide sufficient space for setting up the plant and associated infrastructure.
Today, Additional Municipal Executive Officer Pooja Raut, Municipal Amin Shubhasmita Jena, and a four-member team of officials from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) visited the proposed site. During the inspection, the officials reviewed the suitability and feasibility of the location for establishing the Bio-CNG facility.
The proposed plant is expected to serve the dual purpose of converting organic waste into useful energy and improving local waste-management practices. By utilizing cow dung and domestic waste as raw materials, the project could help reduce the amount of waste sent for disposal while generating a cleaner alternative fuel.
Further inspections, technical assessments and discussions are expected to be carried out in the coming days before the project moves ahead with the next stages of planning and implementation.
