Panel Lawyers Receive Special Training at Jeypore Under the Aegis of DLSA Koraput to Enhance Legal Skills and Improve Access to Justice

Jeypore,Sept 7 [UDN}:: A training programme for panel lawyers was organised under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Koraput, at Jeypore.

The programme was held at the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Centre Conference Hall located at the office of the District Legal Services Authority. District Judge and Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Shri Pradeep Kumar Mahanta, formally inaugurated the training programme.

Welcoming the panel lawyers who had come from Jeypore, Koraput, Kotpad, Borigumma, Laxmipur, Dasmantpur and Semiliguda, Shri Mahanta highlighted the importance of the training programme and the role of legal services in ensuring access to justice.

Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Smt. Pradyomayi Sujata, introduced the panel lawyers and resource persons. She elaborated on the rules and regulations of the Legal Services Authority, the role and responsibilities of panel lawyers, and the duties they should and should not perform while discharging their responsibilities. She also discussed the importance of effective communication and consultation with clients.

Senior Civil Judge of Jeypore, Shri Swayam Prakash Das, attended the programme as a resource person and spoke on fundamental knowledge of civil law, interim orders, advocacy skills, civil drafting, examination of witnesses and arguments.

Registrar of the Jeypore Civil Court, Smt. Madhusmita Jena, also attended the programme and encouraged the panel lawyers regarding their important role in providing legal services.

Cadre Public Prosecutor of the District and Sessions Judge Court, Jeypore, Shri Mahendra Kumar Nag, participated as another resource person. He provided training on the fundamentals of criminal law, the rights of arrested persons, bail, consideration of applications, criminal law drafting, examination of witnesses, arguments and provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The training programme was attended by empanelled lawyers of the District Legal Services Authority, Jeypore, and the Taluk Legal Services Committees of Koraput, Kotpad, Borigumma, Laxmipur, Dasmantpur and Semiliguda. Legal Aid Defence Counsel lawyers, officials of the Legal Services Authority and District Court establishment, as well as volunteers, extended their full cooperation in the successful conduct of the programme.
