Partition Horrors Remembrance Day Marked at Nabarangpur College with Tributes and Remembrance of the Victims of the 1947 Partition

Nabarangpur,Aug 18 [UDN}:: A special remembrance programme was organised today at Nabarangpur Nodal Degree College on the occasion of ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’. The programme began at 10 am and was attended by Nabarangpur MLA Gouri Shankar Majhi, Collector Dr. Maheswar Swain, Additional District Magistrate (General) Dr. Pramod Kumar Prusty, and Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Biswajit Barman, among others.
Hrushikesh Dash attended the programme as the chief speaker. Kanhucharan Das, litterateur and spokesperson Bijay Choudhury, Narayan Panda, and college principal Smt. Sangeeta Tripathy, along with several other dignitaries, were present. More than 400 students from various colleges participated in the event.
Upon the arrival of the guests at the college, students, along with 100 NCC cadets, accorded them a grand welcome while holding the national flag. This was followed by a collective rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’.
The MLA and Collector inaugurated an exhibition stall and visited an exhibition featuring around 37 paintings prepared on the occasion of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day.
Later, a meeting was held in the college conference hall. Following the inaugural address by the college principal, the session was moderated by lecturer and noted litterateur Shambhu Hota.
The speakers highlighted the horrors of the 1947 Partition of India, including the immense human suffering, pain and untold hardships experienced during that period. They also urged students to learn from history and work towards strengthening national unity, brotherhood and social harmony.
