K. Nuagaon, Aug 13 [UDN}: The Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya branch at Chanapadar in K. Nuagaon block of Kandhamal district organised a ‘Drug-Free India’ awareness campaign from August 6 to 20.
As part of the campaign, an awareness and pledge programme was first conducted for members of the local auto-rickshaw drivers’ association at the ashram premises. A similar programme was later held at K. Nuagaon Government High School, where centre-in-charge Sister Tapaswini administered a pledge against substance abuse and urged participants to stay away from intoxicating substances.
Addressing the students, she advised them to remain cautious from childhood and avoid falling prey to harmful habits. Awareness activities are also being conducted in various schools across the block.
The programme at the high school was held under the supervision of Headmaster Manoj Kumar Rath. Rajyoginis and Brahma Kumars and Kumaris spoke about world unity, regular meditation and yoga, a disciplined daily routine and spiritual practices.
Auto Drivers’ Association president Nayan Kumar Nayak, secretary Anil Chandra Singh, treasurer Himanshu Kumar Mallik and other drivers attended the programme. Senior members of the local ashram, including Subash Chandra Rout, Shiva Ram Beberta, Keshab Behera, Apurba Kumar Rout and Digambar Digal, along with members of the Gita Pathashala, extended their cooperation.
Local intellectuals expressed hope that the campaign and pledge programme would have a positive impact on preventing substance abuse among the younger generation.
