The advanced articulated water tower, stationed at the Puri Fire Brigade unit, will spray water over large gathering areas near the chariots whenever required to provide relief to pilgrims facing heat-related discomfort.

The equipment, primarily used for firefighting operations in high-rise buildings and large structures, has the capability to release water from a height, rotate 360 degrees, and cover an area of nearly 100 metres.

The system is expected to help reduce heat levels around the chariot route, where thousands of devotees gather during the grand festival. The water spray operation will be carried out based on weather conditions and crowd requirements.

The initiative is part of the administration’s comprehensive arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Puri Rath Yatra, scheduled to begin on July 16. Various departments are working together to ensure the safety, comfort, and convenience of devotees attending the annual event.

Authorities said necessary measures are being taken to manage the large congregation and provide better facilities during the festival.
